Plasma Skin Tightening

What is it?

The Plasma Skin Tightening Treatment uses the fourth state of matter – plasma. The methodology behind this non-surgical procedure is to ionize gases in the air to create a small electrical arch, similar to a tiny lightning bolt. When the Plasma (energy) touches the skin surface heat is transferred to the skin and reaches the layer that contains fibroblasts, cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin, the skin’s infrastructure…the Anti-Aging Matrix!

Plasma Skin Tightening is an advanced procedure which works to organically help skin restore its own natural levels of the Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid and Fibronectin needed for fresh, youthful looking skin.

Plasma Skin Tightening is used to target specific problem areas and is not an all over facial treatment which produces youthful results with an up to 60 minute procedure. Once healing is complete, skin will be visibly smoother with significant wrinkle reduction.

How are results produced?

The net result of this treatment is contraction and tightening of the skin cells which actually reduces the amount of excess skin, producing results comparable to surgical and more ablative lift and wrinkle reduction procedures. Plasma Skin Tightening, also referred to as “soft surgery”, is the only cosmetic treatment to use plasma to eliminate excess skin. It is particularly effective for non-surgical eye lifts and reduction of scars, crosslinking (a form of aging caused by sun damage) and stretch marks. Plasma Skin Tightening is able to treat a number of imperfections without the actual cutting or ablation of the skin.

Ablative vs Non-Ablative

The skin layers are wounded by plasma in a controlled manner via heating, fragmentation, vaporization and coagulation. This type of intentional wounding is classified as ablative since the skin is not burned as it would be in a CO2 Laser treatment, for example, which is considered ablative. In an ablative treatment the healing phase is prolonged due to the level of surface tissue removed which leads to a greater risk of complications such as scarring, infection and loss of pigmentation.

Plasma works similarly to non-ablative laser but uses heat without light on a minute surface of the skin, accurately directed energy damages very specific skin cells to encourage regrowth and renewal. This not only improves the skin tone and texture, but it can also reduce scarring and improves a number of common skin problems.

What is Plasma Skin Tightening used to treat?

>Eyelid lifting, to resolve saggy lower eyelids and upper excess eyelid skin

>Diminishing stretch marks

>Tightening tummy skin post pregnancy

>Face, neck, cheek and jowl tightening

>Skin imperfections such as freckles and age (sun) spots

>Improvement in the appearance of wrinkles, post-surgery scars and acne scars

How many treatments are required?

The number of treatments will vary according to the condition being treated, the degree of skin laxity, the desired degree of correction and the individual’s response to treatment. Most clients see results instantly and this continues to improve over the following 2-6 weeks. Additional treatments can be performed to get further correction. Rarely more than two treatments will be required. Appointments must be spaced out 6-8 weeks, to ensure adequate healing.

Plasma Skin Tightening Vs surgical procedures

Plasma Skin Tightening is an excellent, non-surgical alternative resulting in a more youthful appearance, without the cost and inherent risks of surgery including but not limited to complications or reactions to anesthesia, extended downtime, and possibly not getting the hoped-for result.

Is this procedure painful?

It is virtually painless due to the use of prescription compounded topical anesthetic applied to the skin before treatment.

Is the Plasma Skin Tightening treatment safe?

The Plasma Skin Tightening treatment is an exceptionally safe procedure with some social downtime. Typical side effects include erythema (inflammation and redness), minor to moderate swelling, small circular scabs and the feeling dryness and tightness in the treated areas which will disappear after 3-5 days. Scarring or minor change in skin pigmentation is extremely rare. Post care is extremely important and must be followed closely to avoid complications.
